Tutor Emily Katsuno

Emily is a lover of movement and that which involves giving voice to the experience and expression of the body. She has a background as a contemporary dance artist, has been a practising yoga therapist since 2015 and teaching yoga since 2011. Emily runs her own yoga and movement studio ‘The Soma Shala’ in a converted yurt in South Devon, where she teaches and host’s multi disciplinary work from other movement specialists, creatives and artists. Emily is also a faculty member for the Devon School of Yoga.

Emily is currently training as a Somatic Movement Therapist and Educator with the IBMT and as a Somatic Experiencing® practitioner (Body Oriented Trauma Therapy). Inclusive and welcoming, somatic practices seek to validate the felt experience of the body. Through the practice of both yoga and somatics Emily writes:

‘I find more spaces where I am free to meet the moment as it is, as I am. I am very grateful to both lineages that have supported me in finding a sense of home, relief, ground, belonging, creativity and liberation in my body, when it hasn’t always felt this way.’

Emily seeks to create spaces that are inclusive, diverse and welcoming to all. She looks forward to sharing these practices with you in Morocco.
